Where Great Kitchens Are Forged
The Gourmet Forge is a studio metalwork practice dedicated to architectural range hoods and custom commissions. Every piece is hand-forged in our Johns Island, South Carolina studio.

Carl Coppola
Carl Coppola founded The Gourmet Forge with a simple belief: the range hood should be the centerpiece of a great kitchen, not an afterthought. With over two decades of metalworking experience, he brings together traditional forging techniques and modern architectural sensibility.
Every hood that leaves the studio bears his mark. From the first hammer blow to the final patina application, Carl oversees each piece personally. His work has been featured in design publications and installed in homes across the Southeastern United States.
The studio operates on the principle of quality over quantity. Each commission receives the time, attention, and craft it deserves. This is not mass production—it's studio metalwork at the highest level.
Our Philosophy
Three principles guide every piece we forge.
Forge-First Craft
Every hood begins at the forge. We shape metal with fire and hammer, not just fabrication equipment. This is how heirloom pieces are made.
Architectural Intent
We design for architects and designers who demand precision. Shop drawings, submittals, and documentation meet architectural standards.
Studio-Only Quality
We don't outsource, franchise, or license our designs. Everything is made in-house by our team of skilled craftsmen.
Our Studio
The Gourmet Forge studio is located on Johns Island, just outside Charleston, South Carolina. This is where every hood is designed, forged, finished, and inspected before delivery.
We welcome studio visits by appointment for trade partners and clients with active projects. See work in progress, review finish samples in person, and meet the team behind your commission.
Our service area covers the Southeastern United States, with a concentration of projects in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Specialty projects ship nationwide.
